Potpourri

Q: Why is it that your potpourri keeps the fragrance for so long?

A: Our potpourri contains natural fixatives, the result being a potpourri that last for months.

Q: How do I re-fragrance my old potpourri that I have had for years?

A: Place your old potpourri in a large plastic bag, add a few drops of Rosemary’s fragrance oils, shake to distribute. We recommend that you keep it in the closed bag for a day or so, this will ensure that the oil has absorbed into the natural botanicals.

Q: I have potpourri that don’t have much smell left to it, can I change it to a different fragrance?

A: Yes! Rosemary’s fragrance oils are so concentrated that it will over power the other scent. However, if your other potpourri is not Rosemary’s, we can not guarantee that it will retain the scent as long- if it doesn’t include special fixatives, as Rosemary’s Potpourri does.

Q: Once I get my potpourri, how do I display it?

A: Potpourri may be poured into any container. We recommend a container that will not later be used for food. Note: some of the oils in the mixes may stain, we suggest using glass.

Q: Can I simmer potpourri in water?

A: Yes, but our potpourri is so pretty that most prefer to set it out dry in a container. Never simmer potpourri in a container that will be later used for cooking.

Q: Why is it that when I get my potpourri home, after awhile, I can’t smell it as much?

A: This may occur for several reasons. Is it Rosemary’s potpourri products? Another fact is that once you are in your home for a period of time, your senses can become accustomed (immune). Ever walk into someone home and it stinks! But they don’t think it does!

Q: I can only smell my potpourri in the same room that it is displayed.

A: Potpourri coverage is about a 100 square foot per 3cups. It is a good idea to place your containers of potpourri in various areas. Fluffing your potpourri periodically will also help the fragrance linger. For larger coverage, see fragrance oils Q&A

Q: Is it true that warming potpourri in the microware will make it smell stronger?

A: Please do not do this; heating potpourri causes the volatile oils in the potpourri to burst, thus, releasing all the scent at once! Plus, you may risk burning your beautiful potpourri. Use Rosemary’s Fragrance oils to rejuvenate your potpourri.

Q: Can my holiday potpourri be saved until the next year?

A: Absolutely! Just put your pumpkin pie, Christmas berry ect… into a sealed container and store it with all your other holiday décor.  You will be quite surprised a year later when it still smells!

Q: What can I do with the special fresh roses that my husband gave me for our anniversary? Can I make potpourri out of them, or should I just throw them away.

A: Stop! Don’t throw them away! This is a keepsake. Simply pluck the buds and the leaves before they turn completely dark; store them in a dry cool place. Once they are completely dry, place them in a plastic bag, and add your favorite Rosemary’s Fragrance oil and shake to distribute. Keep them in the bag for a day or so before displaying.

Q: I love the colors and fragrances of your potpourri. Can I buy bulk by the pound and resale it?

A: Yes, we sell our bulk potpourri by the cup not by pound. The weight of potpourri mixes varies. We don’t want to limit or sacrifice color combinations.  In most cases our 20 cup bulk potpourri weighs more than 1#.
